Go deeper with more focused time.
EMDR Intensives establish a sustained rhythm of practice being present with oneself. It is not talk-therapy. It allows for the unique aspects of each individual to emerge freely, and to be accepted and appreciated.
Why EMDR Intensives?
Intensives help our work to move forward towards the roots of our conditions. Once this flow is accessed, these sessions use an accelerated version of EMDR that reduces treatment time. Many people do not have the time or the mental space to work for months in sessions. Intensives allow for a more focused setting without the interruptions and distractions that often occur between weekly sessions. Further, the design can help us to personalize the treatment plan to fit comfortably into your schedule. An intensive can facilitate a smoother progression through symptoms by targeting specific treatment goals, and by processing more information in a shorter amount of time. There is a growing body of research suggesting intensives are reliable, safe, and just as effective as weekly therapy sessions.
EMDR Intensives
Situations where someone would choose an EMDR Intensive over traditional models of therapy:
Client has regular experiences with a “mental fog” at work. Time is a factor to return to meeting familiar productivity.
Client has strong preference for extended time for in-person counseling.
Day-to-day functioning is regularly disrupted by unstable environment, making regular appointments difficult.
Client does not have time for weekly sessions given the demands of work, family, relationships.
Client would like less time spent on building skills for in-between sessions, as well as less time spent on ‘check-ins’ and ‘close downs’ before and after sessions.
Plans and What to Expect
Half-Day Intensive
Tailored typically towards specific traumatic events, ongoing adverse experiences, or performance related stress from business, relationships, or athletics. These sessions work with senses, thoughts, body sensations, and emotions to diminish disturbances and build confidence.
90 minute intake appointment (virtual or in-person) with workbook (optional)
3 hour EMDR Intensive appointment
90 minute follow-up appointment (virtual or in-person)
Full-Day Intensive
These sessions are often for complex trauma and more extensive traumatic patterns. Full-day intensives allow for more time for resources to be established, which facilitates a more thorough processing experience. These can be conducted bi-monthly or quarterly by request.
90 minute intake appointment (virtual or in-person) with workbook (optional)
1 day of 4-6 hours of therapy.
90 minute follow-up appointment (virtual or in-person)
3-day Intensive
Designed for complex trauma, more extensive traumatic patterns, and firmly held negative beliefs. These sessions are structured in three half-day intensives with usually one day in between. They fall typically on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the same week. The goal with these sessions is to establish more impactful long-term shifts in the most efficient manner. We decide the structure of these sessions together.
90 minute intake appointment (virtual or in-person) with workbook (optional)
3 days of 3 hour EMDR Intensive appointments on Mon, Wed, Fri of same week
90 minute follow-up appointment (virtual or in-person)
